Facial Creams Serving As Poison Agents

State health officials have located 18 cases of mercury poisoning from a facial cream called Crema Aguamary in Mexico. On testing the samples of this facial cream, mercury levels were found to be 56,000 to 131,000 parts per million. Samples of Crema Aguamary eye cream contained levels from 240 to 6,700 parts per million. This is alarming considering that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration permits only 1 ppm of mercury in such facial products. State health officials are still trying to sort out if the facial cream was affected with mercury during its production or some other stage. The poisoned facial creams were noticed to be gray in color, which was unusual. The mercury poisoning may affect the nervous system, kidneys and lead to extreme fatigue, muscle aches and weakness, skin rashes, sores in the mouth, mood changes, memory loss, and high blood pressure.
